ACADEMIC GROWTH & SUCCESS
At our staff meeting last week we took some time to look at results from standardised tests we do at the end of the year. The results show overall tremendous growth as a group & individuals in our school.
I want to thank Mr Gerrard, Mrs Seaman, Mr Angus & Mr Brown who supported staff to bring about a transformation of teaching & learning over the past few years. The staff have worked very hard and the results are paying off. I look forward to even better results in 2025. (Further information in the newsletter).
ACARA’s My School website has been updated for 2024 with the latest school-level NAPLAN data and new profile information on schools. My School gives parents and carers information about schools in their area, including on student and teacher numbers, attendance rates, income and expenditure, and NAPLAN results. It also provides principals and teachers with important insights into school performance. ACARA CEO Stephen Gniel said: “ACARA’s My School has detailed information on around 10,000 schools right across Australia. It’s the only website that provides parents, carers and the broader community with clear and transparent information on every Australian school.” Visit myschool.edu.au for more details.
END OF YEAR THANKS
As we come to the close of another busy and successful year, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all the students, staff, and families for their hard work, dedication, and support.
To our families: Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Your financial contributions through fees and fundraisers are vital to the smooth running of our school. We appreciate everything you do to ensure our school community thrives.
Special thanks to our wonderful Parent Class Carers who volunteered their time and kept the lines of communication open. Your dedication makes a difference in so many ways.
To the School Community Council and P&F: Thank you for your tireless work throughout the year. Your contributions help us continue to grow and provide an exceptional environment for our students.
Our student leaders have done an outstanding job, embodying our motto—"To Learn, To Lead, To Love." I also want to extend my thanks to all students who strive to be welcoming, hardworking, and compassionate.
A special shout-out to some of our less-visible team members: Di & Courtney in the canteen, Vicki, our cleaner, and Steve, our Groundsman. Your contributions, often behind the scenes, are greatly appreciated.
Special thanks to Courtney Kozelj who is finishing in the canteen at the end of the term. She has done a great job & stepped in with very little notice to help us out. Best wishes for her new job.
Thanks to Father Joshy and Father Hilary for their continued support of our spiritual life throughout the year. Your guidance and presence mean so much to our school community. We wish you well in new parishes and look forward to Father Lim joining us in the new school year.
Thank you to Tracey for her seamless management of the Front Office, and to Caitlan & Stacey for their support. I also want to express my gratitude to the School Executive team—Brad, Cassie, and Greg—whose hard work and dedication helped carry us through challenging times. All of our staff do an extraordinary job, showing kindness, care, and understanding in their roles. I hope each of you enjoys a well-deserved break.
Best wishes to Rowena Atkinson as she embarks on a career change & takes on High School.
This year, we say goodbye to some families who have made tremendous contributions to our school community.
We thank them for everything they’ve done and wish them all the best in their future endeavors. We especially want to recognise Darren McMahon who has been Chair of the Community Council since my arrival here. He has done a tremendous job. Darren was on the interview panel when I applied for the job and asked me how we could increase enrolments. With the help of Darren, the Community Council, parents staff & students we have achieved our goals and enrolments are still on the rise.
To all students, staff, and families leaving, we are grateful for your time with us and wish you happiness and success in all that lay ahead.
Thank you to all for your hard work and dedication. Wishing everyone a peaceful and relaxing break.
May Christ bless you and your families, and may you have a Happy and Holy Christmas.
Uniform Shop - Christmas Holiday Opening Times
Please note that the uniform shop will not be open on Wednesday 18 December (last day of school). Qkr orders will still be sent home with students on this day.
We would like to thank Ashlee Cox and our parent volunteers for opening the shop every Wednesday, filling orders and assisting with all student's uniform needs. Your time is greatly appreciated!
PRELOVED CLOTHING POOL
If you have uniforms at home that your child no longer wears, please consider donating them to our Preloved Clothing Pool. There are many good quality items available at bargain prices and many families who greatly appreciate these discounted clothes.
Donations can simply be dropped into the front office any time.
Thank you for supporting our school community.
Term 4 = Summer Uniform
The uniform shop is run by parent volunteers and is open on a Wednesday morning 9-9.30am for fittings and sales. The best way to organise your child's uniform requirements is to order via Qkr. Orders need to be placed by 8.30am each Wednesday so that they are able to be sent home that day; orders placed after 8.30am will not be filled until the following week.
PROCEDURE FOR FORGOTTEN LUNCHES IN 2025:
Forgotten lunches place a huge amount of pressure and extra work on both the canteen and front office. With the increase in student numbers in 2025, we have adjusted our procedure for forgotten lunches.
In 2025 if your child forgets their lunch:
- staff will check with the student regarding what food they do have
- if they do not have any food in their bag, the child will be provided with a cheese or vegemite sandwich
- children will no longer be sent to the canteen for an IOU
- we will no longer make a phone call to parents regarding forgotten lunches and lunch orders
We will not let a student go without food if they come to us without lunch, however we need to implement some new measures to ease the strain on canteen and office staff. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
In 2025 our school canteen will continue to operate Monday to Friday. Student's requiring lunch from the canteen need to submit a lunch order by 9am the day the order is to be received via the QKR app (remember you can order up to two weeks in advance), or you can also send an envelope with correct change in with your child. The canteen will also be open during first break for over the counter snacks, ice creams and drinks.
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal
We would like to thank our parents/carers, students, teachers and school community. The abundance of food that was donated to the Christmas Appeal is overwhelming. St Vincent de Paul collected the donations on Monday morning!
Carols by Candlelight
Our school swimming carnival (Yrs 3-6) will be held on Monday 10th February. We will be asking for volunteers to help with timekeeping, lifeguarding and ribbon distribution early in 2025. Please save the date if you would like to be involved.
House Meetings will take place this Friday to complete entries. There are events for all abilities. More information can be found on Compass.

Year 6 Graduation Ceremony and Pool Party!
GRADUATION CEREMONY
Congratulations to our departing Year 6 students, and especially to those who recieved an award at our Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday.
POOL PARTY!!
Kindergarten Swimming Safety Week
During safety week at swimming lessons the students got to learn all about water safety at the pool and the beach. We talked about how important it is to swim between the red and yellow flags, how to signal a life guard with a closed fist and how important it is to never go swimming without our Mums or Dads. After our brief discussion the students got to put on life jackets and jump into the pool! They had a great time floating and swimming up and down the pool, putting everything they've learned in swimming lessons into practise.

Goulburn Workers Club Santa's Corner
It has come around to that time of year again where kids can write their letters to Santa, drop them in to our letter box and receive a letter back from the big man himself.
“Santa’s Corner is back at Goulburn Workers to make it easier for all letters to make their way to the North Pole this Christmas! Write your letter for Santa, and drop it in the Mailbox at McKell Reception, remembering to include your return address so Santa can write back. While you’re here, take a photo in front of our beautiful fireplace. The mailbox will be going back to the North Pole on Friday 13th December, so make sure to have your letters in!”
