If your child arrives at school after the start of class (which is 9.20am), a parent or guardian MUST accompany them to the office and sign them via our Compass Kiosk at the front desk.
Please do not 'drop and run' at car line or the front gate.
If you do not sign your child in via the office, they will be marked 'Late - Unexplained'. The school will then issue a notice to parents asking for an explanation for the late arrival. It is a legal requirement that any absence has a satisfactory explanation, and our head office in Canberra has requested that schools follow this procedure.

TERM 4 REMINDERS - Everyday Details at a Glance
Late Drop Off/Early Pick up and Student Supervision
- Please remember that if you are running late and arrive at school after 9.20am, parents MUST come to the front office and sign their child/ren in.
- Please take particular note of the below student supervision times before and after school
- BELL TIMES - Please come outside of these times if you need to collect your child early:
- School Start 9.20am (Student supervision from 8.30am)
- 1st Break (lunch) 11.25am-12.05pm
- 2nd break (recess) 1.25pm - 2pm
- School Finish 3.20pm (Student supervision at car line until 3.45pm, at bus lines until the last bus leaves)
Car Line & Parent Parking
- We remind parents that car line is the most appropriate and safest place to drop your child/ren off at school in the morning, and pick them up in the afternoon. This is a 'kiss and go' system where you should not hop out of the car. If your child/ren need help to get in and out of the car, or you wish to walk them to their classroom in the morning, we ask that you park on Prince Street (outside car line) and not in car line, the very limited staff parking spaces, or in the all day spaces on Knox Street (see map below).
- At the end of the day when you are lined up on the road at pick up time you are only permitted to be stopped for 2 minutes. If the line is not moving, advice from NSW Police is that parents and carers should drive around the block until they are able to enter the school grounds.
- Please also remember that student supervision at car line is until 3:45pm, so arriving around or after 3:30 will help to ease the congestion at this time. It is not essential that you are at car line before 3:20pm (school finish time).
- Please also remember to leave neighbours driveways clear when waiting to pick your child up at the end of the day, especially if you are waiting behind the bus stop area.
Whole & Partial Day Unexplained Absences
- Any unexplained absence reminders (for both whole and partial days) will be emailed to families on a weekly basis. Please ensure you complete the Compass absentee form via the app in a timely manner. It is a legal requirement that any absence from school has a satisfactory explanation.
- For any partial absences (such as late arrivals NOT signed in through the front office) please adjust the END TIME ONLY to reflect the end time as it is stated on your email (for example: 09.20 AM - 09.28 AM Partial Day - you will need to change the end time in Compass from 5.00 PM to 9.28 AM).
Personal Items, Mobile Phones, and Devices
- Children SHOULD NOT bring toys, personal and valuable items to school.
- Any mobile phones or personal electronic devices need to be handed in to the office before classes start and collected at home time.
Uniform and Equipment
- HATS ARE COMPULSORY EVERY DAY EXCEPT FOR THE 'J' MONTHS (JUNE & JULY).
- Please pack a water bottle for your child/ren. Bubblers are available.
- Please ensure that your child/ren's belongings are labelled clearly
- Lost property is located in the front office
Welcome back to Term 4!
It seems like a very long time since I have written for the newsletter. Thank you to the school community for your support over Term 3. Our family misses my father very much but life goes on. I appreciated having time away from work as the last few months have been very tiring. My special thanks to Brad Brown for stepping in as acting principal & Cassie Harris as acting assistant principal and the staff for supporting them in Term 3. All did a great job.
IMPORTANT DATES
Term 4 is always busy, starting with K-2 swimming lessons which begin this Friday. Please keep your eye on the School Calendar for all the important dates in Term 4 & beyond. Updates & reminders are regularly posted on the Compass App.
NIBBLES ON KNOX
Thanks to all the businesses who have supported this event & Kylie Brushaber & team for all their organisation. It looks like it will be a lovely event.
STAFFING IN 2024
In 2024 the school will have 13 classes, structured in the same way as 2023 with two classes of Kinder to Year 4 & three 5/6 groupings. I believe in 2025 we should become a totally 2 stream school.
Both our Year 1 teachers Mrs Brown & Mrs Yeo will be on maternity leave in 2024. We wish them well as they each add to their families. I have begun the process of finding replacements & thinking about what classes teachers will be taking in 2024.
I will keep you informed of any staff changes. Later this term families will be given an opportunity to offer some input into the creating of classes for next year. Students find out their class & teacher at the end of the year.
Kathy Neely
We still have a limited number of places available for Kindergarten 2024.

The beginning and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.
You can help keep children safe by remembering the following:
- drop your child off and pick them up on the school side of the road
- never call out to them from across the road - it is very dangerous
- always take extra care in 40km school zones
- follow all parking signs - these help keep your child as safe as possible
- park responsibly even if it means you have to walk further to the school gate
- never double park - it is illegal and puts children at risk
- never do a U-turn or a three point turn outside the school as it puts children at risk of harm
- model safe and considerate pedestrian and driver behaviours to your child
- always give way to pedestrians particularly when entering and leaving driveways.

My name is Madi and I have been a part of the Catholiccare Student and Family Counselling team since 2022. I am available at Ss Peter and Paul’s every Monday.
Catholiccare has merged with Marymead during the holiday break. There are no changes to our service delivery. The only change you may see will be our official title of Marymead Catholiccare Canberra Goulburn. Please also note our email address will be updated to reflect the new organisation (eg firstname.lastname@mccg.org.au).
If your child was seen by the School Counsellor last year and you would like them to receive support in 2023, we require you to complete a new counselling registration form. New referrals will also require you to complete the counselling registration form. Questions or requests can be directed to the office, your child’s class teacher or School Counsellor (madelyn.burns@mccg.org.au).
Referral Link: https://catholiccare.force.com/housing/s/school-referral-form
Parent consent for counselling continues to be required for all primary school students and will be sought and provided via email or phone call. Where parents are separated, we require the consent of both parents. Once the referral has been received by myself - School Counsellor - I will make contact with parents on my next day at Ss Peter and Paul’s to further discuss the referral.
