We are in difficult times and your co-operation with recent events is very appreciated. My staff have done an outstanding job in these challenging times. We have had a long range approach to supporting students and families. We have quickly prepared learning packs for this week. For the last two weeks of term we will be in trial process to get our remote learning working properly. Students from Kinder to Year 2 will be using SEESAW for their online learning and students Years 3-6 will be using Google Classrooms. Staff will start making contact through these platforms so we can check they are working properly before the end of the term. Our Term 2 begins on Tuesday 28th April and we would hope that our remote learning platforms would be running smoothly.
We are very lucky to have Mr Wigg on staff this year as he has been leading the process of remote learning and has brought many skills to the table. Staff have been working hard to support him. They all are doing a terrific job and I am so grateful for their efforts.
Parents you do have some challenges ahead with more direct support for your child’s learning. Do not be too hard on yourself or them. A quote I follow at school “We are all doing the best we can , at this particular point in time and this particular place”. Remember check out our website and you will find the Remote Learning tab –there you will find lots of things to support you. Please email the office if you need any assistance.
Below is an excerpt from the ArchBishops Prayer for these times. Let us see God in all the kindness and patience we can show each other in difficult times.
We pray: for the sick and those looking after them. Help us to offer practical help to those who struggle. Let us use these times, O Lord, for your greater glory, especially during Lent and Easter. Let us pray more, and truly listen to you more in loving silence, stillness and simplicity. Almighty Father, you always journey with us in life’s challenges. Help us to meet you often in the scriptures and our sacraments. Increase in us faith, hope and trust. Protect us from this coronavirus. Remove it from our common home. Heal those who are sick and dying. Mary, Help of Christians, as always we fly to you in our need. Be close to us and point out your Son, Jesus, to us in this pandemic. We make this and all our prayers through Jesus, Our Lord and Saviour, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, AMEN
RE: Arrangements for Remote Learning
I thank you for your cooperation and patience as we develop and implement means for remote learning. Throughout the week, some parts of our original plan have evolved, but the core aspects of our approach remains the same. Beginning next Monday, we will transition to offering remote learning opportunities for all students through Google Classrooms and SeeSaw. The processes, tools and delivery style within these two methods will continue to evolve, as our teachers continue to be upskilled in their use of multiple digital tools to support learning. This process is going to be steep learning curve for all. Our aim is to tailor our processes and methods based on feedback and experience.
Teaching and Learning Programs
Kinder to Year 2 will access their daily learning through the SeeSaw App. Individual logins have been sent home with many students already. For those who have not received them, please contact and collect them from the school reception as soon as possible. Year 3 to Year 6 daily will access their daily learning through Google Classrooms. Most Year 3 to Year 6 students have accessed these already from school this term and are familiar with the interface. There will be plenty of activities to do they do not require a device. Just like any other school day you need to schedule breaks for your child. REMEMBER to be marked as attending school we need evidence students are engage in remote learning activities.
Support and Resources
We have developed specific information and resources for parents and students on our school website. Please follow the appropriate links in the ‘Remote Learning’ section of our website to access information regarding remote learning. These pages will be updated regularly, so please check them regularly.
Contact
Individual teachers will provide their email contacts via Google Classroom and SeeSaw to the appropriate classes. Teachers will be able to respond to emails between the times of 9.00am and 3.30pm each day. Together with some aspects of video messaging and the in-built capacity of many Google Apps, students and teachers will be able to communicate regularly and effectively with each other within normal school hours. For ongoing technical support and questions of a similar nature, please email our Assistant Principal via garreth.wigg@cg.catholic.edu.au. Normal school inquiries should be directed to office.sppg@cg.catholic.edu.au.
Videoconferencing and Connecting
It is expected that there will be some forms of live communication between students and teachers with the Zoom App. However, the protocols and means for this are still in the early stages of development. We are taking the necessary time to upskill teachers and staff to be able to easily connect with students, communicate in real-time and facilitate quality teaching and learning. Our aim is to get students connected face-to-face over video conferencing with their teachers and peers as soon as possible. I encourage all families to download and install the videoconferencing tool
Soon, we will be adding links to our school website in the Remote Learning section with links to scheduled Zoom meetings. To ensure safety and privacy, we will provide the code to enter these meetings via SeeSaw, Google Classroom and the SZapp. Examples of regular Zoom meetings might include weekly links to connect with some of our specialist teachers, daily prayer, and whole-school announcements.
Finally we see this new approach to school as a great opportunity to learn. Our school Improvements goals this year are about challenge, dialogue and collaboration. This new learning environment certainly meets those goals.

Dear Parishioners,
We are all aware of the unfolding challenges our community is facing due to the Coronavirus pandemic throughout our world. In these difficult times, I assure you that you are remembered in our prayers.
Churches will remain open every day for private prayer.
The Mass Intentions requested by our people will still be offered by the priests as they celebrate their private Mass. All the Intentions will be honoured. If you have a prayer request, please let us know.
At this time I want to encourage all of us to take time to keep our hearts and souls in touch with our Lord. Through all the turns and twists of our lives we pray for the grace to put our trust in God who never abandons us even in the darkest hour.
In particular, Pope Francis is encouraging us to pray the rosary seeking our Blessed Mother’s intercession for her children throughout the world.
All Sacraments are on hold, Holy Communion, Confirmation, Baptisms.
We are able to view Daily Mass from the Archdiocese via; Mary Queen of Apostles Facebook page & Catholic Voice on the internet webpage.

As indicated our Cross Country Carnival was not able to go ahead this week. The good news (and I know the students will be thrilled) is that we will run the carnival later in the year when things get back to normal. So keep fit and keep moving!
Ss Peter & Pauls Football News
Lots of work continues behind the scenes to get ready for season 2020.
Although we are currently experiencing unprecedented events due to Coronavirus - STFA has plenty of contingencies ready to go for when bans and restrictions are lifted.
SPPFC will be ready to go when this happens !
Please join our facebook group if you haven't already - simply search 'Ss Peter & Paul's Football Club'. This is the best way to keep in touch with what is happening - clubwise and within the STFA.
In 3Y we have enjoyed experimenting with lots of different art styles and mediums. Our biggest achievement this term was receiving a Highly Commended at The Goulburn Show. The students recreated the Aboriginal symbol for a meeting place using weaving and wrapping techniques inspired by Canberra weaving artist, Julia Ware. We have also experimented with watercolour, collaging and patterns and lines with fine markers this term.
Student attendance is still being marked at school. We have a special code for students at home who undertaking remote learning while the school is operating and if it closes.
With the move next week to more online remote learning staff will be interacting with students and asking for evidence that students are engaging in remote learning tasks.
If students are not coming on line or showing evidence of learning they will be marked as on leave but not participating in remote learning.
If your child is sick please fill out the normal absent form on the school app.
INFORMATION ABOUT SCHOOL FEES
We acknowledge the unprecedented economic impact on families as a result of COVID-19 and associated government directives.
Consistent with our enrolment policy “no child is to be denied Catholic schooling simply because of an inability (as opposed to an unwillingness) of a parent/guardian, to meet financial requirements”.
Effective immediately are the following fee relief measures:
· All debt collection activities will be suspended until further notice
· Fee concessions will be available on outstanding fees at the end of Term 1 for those families eligible for Government COVID-19 supplement payments.
· Fee concession will be available for Term 2 fees for families eligible for Government COVID-19 supplement payments.
We anticipate delaying fee statements for Term 2 until there is greater clarity about the duration of the pandemic. General fee concession arrangements are being considered and will be communicated once finalised.
If you have been financially impacted by COVID-19 or have any concerns around fees, please contact Miss Neely directly.
Please be assured that I am doing everything possible to ensure the canteen is meeting strict guidelines for our current situation (Extra cleaning, no entry to canteen)
A few changes have taken place in the canteen so that we can continue to provide food of the highest of standards.
We no longer use food tubs. Children must pick up their individual lunch order at the canteen window when told to by their Teacher.
As of Tuesday 31st March there will be no window service at lunch time. All current menu items are available to order and your child/ren will receive everything with their lunchorder (Pickup ice blocks etc) This way we are minimizing group gathering and money handling.
Please feel free to continue ordering lunch orders through the QKR app.
