Week 10
Friday 3rd July
- Last day of term for students.
Next week should see us return to normal classroom routines and lessons. I think we would all agree that a little less screen time would be a great thing. I know parents have been very stretched in doing normal parenting duties and supporting the remote learning package. You have done a great job. School in the classroom will return to familiar ways however we will not be having some of the extra things we usually have in school like sports carnivals, assemblies, face to face contact meetings with the parents/teachers, excursions and so on.
This gives us time to do extra learning to catch up or reinforce some of the work that was done remotely. I have every confidence that children will not be too disadvantaged by this time away from the classroom. This change has been something that all families have had to deal with. My hope is students rapidly adjust back to the school environment and move into the future being happy and healthy.
I foreshadow that the 1st June looms as the date that the government declares that all children will be expected to attend school fulltime and only children with a recognised medical condition could remain at home. Therefore remote learning resources would cease and only support given to that small group of “vulnerable” students.
I hope you join in praying with me that COVID 19 can be cured or we can stay in good health and we do not have to return to lockdowns in the future.
ENROLLING FOR 2021
With current restrictions we have had to change our enrolment processes. We have moved our Kindergarten Readiness programme “Ready Set Go” to Term 3 in the hope of lifting of socially distancing and group numbers restrictions changing. I will be doing phone interviews with families new to the school during this term. I will leave interviews for families of siblings till later on. Please spread the word that we are open for enrolments and happy to discuss these with those interested. Your word of mouth is one of our best advertising tools. Applications for enrolments can be made online through our website.
2021 enrolments are now open from Kindergarten - Year 6.
You are able to enrol online - see below. If you would like an information pack or more information please contact the front office on 4821 3304.
Information for parents regarding payment of fees
Catholic Education is committed to providing financial assistance to support families who have lost their economic livelihood as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The position of Catholic education is that no child will be denied a Catholic education because of financial circumstances.
Initial support to assist all families includes:
A refund (for amounts paid) on charges for excursions, sporting events or activities that were due to occur in Terms 1 and 2 and have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fee statements for Term 2 will be delayed to week 4 of Term 2.
Where families are experiencing financial stress due to job loss, being stood down, reduction in work hours, business downturn or closure resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The following is available through a confidential discussion with the school:
Suspension of follow up activity on outstanding fees at the end of Term 1 until 31 July 2020.
Full or partial fee remission or deferral. You are asked to indicate the level of assistance you feel you need at this time by completing a one-page fee assistance form (COVID-19 Fee Assistance Request Form) attached. Your level of fee support will be confirmed as soon as possible.
Families may apply for immediate deferral of Term 2 fee payments by completing the COVID-19 Fee Request to Defer Fees form, also attached.
Families whose employment situation has not been affected by COVID-19 can support the school by continuing to pay school fees as they fall due. This will support our school to continue providing quality learning in a connected community that nurtures and cares for each other.
Financial assistance continues to be available for those families experiencing hardship not related to COVID-19, particularly those experiencing the effects of the bushfire season and the ongoing drought. Families are encouraged to contact me for assistance and more information.
Your family is an important part of our school community. Your financial circumstances will not compromise the place of your children at our school. If you are experiencing any difficulties, I will confidentially ensure your child is not disadvantaged at this time.
Good wishes
Kathy Neely - Principal
