Update for Families on COVID-19
SS Peter and Paul's and Catholic Education continue to take advice from health authorities in relation to COVID-19. The Catholic Education Office has a team that is actively monitoring the COVID-19 situation as it develops, paying particular attention to local hotspots and organising support for schools where required. Ss Peter and Paul's is following all safe hygiene practices in line with government advice. We understand that the situation is fairly fluid and we will communicate directly with you should there be any important changes in relation to our school operations in the coming weeks. We remind all families:
· If your child is unwell, they should not attend school.
· Please ensure that anyone who presents with COVID-19 symptoms in your family is tested.
· Parents should avoid routinely entering the school where possible but can attend scheduled school events and meetings with teachers where required (physical distancing and hygiene measures still apply).
REMINDER THAT OUR OUR SCHOOL BUBBLERS REMAIN TURNED OFF. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CHILD HAS A WATER BOTTLE.
Should you have any questions in relation to our school and COVID-19, please feel free to contact our office.
Annual Improvement Survey
An annual satisfaction survey of parents, students and staff will be conducted on behalf of all Catholic schools in the Diocese this term. the surveys are designed to gather feedback from parents, staff and students about our school and will be used to inform school improvement. Responses are confidential and individuals can not be identified.
The surveys will be launched via email on Friday 7 August 2020 using the email addresses supplied to the school. if you do not receive an email with a link to the survey, you can access and complete the survey at the following link:
FOR HOPE
Loving God,
We thank you that in a world of despair, You are our Hope
In a world of darkness, You are our Light.
In a world of sorrow, You are our Joy
May we continue to trust Your presence with us as we face the challenges and struggles in our personal and professional lives.
Help us to share the Hope of our hearts with one another.
Enable us to give Hope to others through Your work amongst us.
Use us to transform our schools into places of joy and wonder and to spread Your Hope to those whom we lead.
We ask this in Jesus Name.
Amen

THE FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION
On 15th August we celebrate a special feast of Mary the Mother of Jesus, the Assumption. Students in Year 6 will travel to Ss Peter and Paul’s Cathedral on Friday 14th August to celebrate Mass with students from St Joseph’s Primary school. The Mass will be live streamed for students in Years 3-5 via Microsoft Teams.
This feast is a celebration of God’s great and special love of Mary who was so faithful to the will of God that upon her death, she received the fullness of God’s life in heaven. She was an ordinary woman who placed her trust so completely in God. Through her life we see the great blessings that can come to us when we believe and trust in God’s way. Like Mary may we open our hearts, our minds, and our lives to the greatness of God. May we grow to trust God in our lives and shine with the radiance of God’s love as Mary did.
Students in Years 3-6 will be having PE lessons on Tuesday 11th August instead of Thursday just for next week. Students can wear sports uniform that day instead of Thursday. There will be no problem which ever uniform your child wears.

Last term 3Y learnt about The Creation Story in Religion. Students transformed their knowledge into a creative assembly item this term. After exploring artworks by Jeannie Baker, students got into small groups to create their own artworks of The Creation Story. Each group was given a day in the story to focus on. Students made their collages using different natural and synthetic materials. We decided to take photos of the artworks and put them into a movie so that we could share our item with parents. We added voice recordings to retell the story. You're able to view our video on the school's Facebook page. We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we had fun making it!
On Monday 27 July we had a wonderful visit from Fred and Todd Reid of "Maleurindi", an indigenous family clan from Dunghutti country on the Mid-North Coast of NSW. Now based in Canberra, they took our students through fun workshops and a performance to teach us about Indigenous culture. As an elder Fred took the K-2 students on a journey through some Dreamtime stories while Todd showed Yrs 3-6 Traditional Indigenous games. The whole school came to gether to watch their performance of Traditional Dance.
