Kinder 2021 Orientation
On Tuesday we had the second of our Kinder Orientation Days. It has been wonderful that we have been able to have all the new students here. They were excited by their visit and it was wonderful to see their smiling faces and meet them & their parents face to face. Thanks to Mrs Halder & Mrs Wilcox for giving the students a warm welcome. Many thanks to Mrs Martin and Mrs Kain for organising the logistics of the visit. With COVID restrictions Tracey has had to spend many extra hours ringing and emailing new families and her hard work and friendly manner is appreciated.
Year 6 Camp
Year 6 are off to camp next Monday to Wednesday. Mr Moss, Mr Wigg & Miss Atkinson will be accompanying them. It is an exciting opportunity that lots of Year 6’s in other school have missed out on because of COVID restrictions. We thank Mr Wigg for his constant follow-up to get days for the camp. We hope they have a safe & happy time, and I am sure they will come back with many stories to tell about their experience.
Recognition Awards
Congratulations to Mrs Chilko & Mrs Bool who were nominated for a special recognition award from the Catholic Education Office. They were recognised for the work they do in their Minilit lessons and the effort they put in during remote learning so students could still keep working on these lessons.
Well done Deb & Vicki for your efforts.

During November it is part of our Catholic tradition to pray for and celebrate all of our loved ones who have died.
ILLUMINATE STUDENT GATHERING – Friday 20th November at school.
Illuminate is a student gathering for Stage 3 students. This gathering is a great opportunity to celebrate our faith together. Through a variety of talks, drama, testimony and other faith based activity stations and experiences, students are presented with the gift of faith and have the opportunity to ask questions and engage more with what it means to be involved in Youth Ministry. Illuminate is also a great opportunity for young people across the Archdiocese to come together, be encouraged and learn from each other as well as build relationships outside of their school community.
ST VINCENT DE PAUL CHRISTMAS APPEAL
As many families prepare to celebrate the festive season with their loved ones, please spare a thought for those people who are in need this Christmas. During weeks 6, 7, 8 & 9 we will be collecting non-perishable food items (see the list below) to assist the St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal.
Our wonderful Year 6 Mini Vinnie’s team will collect items from the classroom each morning.
Thank you for your generosity, you are giving the gift of hope and love this Christmas
Congratulations to Anzac Rowe and Seb Martin, both in K/1W, who this term received our mercy value awards for displaying Justice and Service.
On Monday, students from K-6, led by our Mini-Vinnies and some of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, participated in a Yulunga Games tabloid as a part of our NAIDOC week celebrations. Yulunga means playing in the language of the Kamilaroi (Gamori) people of northern-western New South Wales. These games provided an opportunity for students to learn about, appreciate and experience aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
In English this term, we are enjoying learning about poetry. We started the unit with lively discussions about what constitutes poetry. After exploring and challenging our preconceived ideas and attitudes towards poetry, we have investigated its common elements, structure, rhyme, rhythm, sound devices and figurative language features. We hope that you enjoy a small taste of our free verse and fixed verse poems before you feast on an anthology that we hope to publish by the end of the year.
We have changed to our summer menu for Term 4, so please keep an eye out for changes to some items and prices.
PLease note there is not a need for volunteers at this time.
We currently have a supply shortage of girls summer dresses. If anyone has a spare or too small dress to donate it would be greatly appreciated.
If you have finished with any school uniform items that are still in good condition, and you have no friends or family to hand it down to, we ask that you consider donating to the uniform shop for our second hand supply rather to local charity shops. Donations can be dropped into the office at any time.
Uniform Shop Trading During Term
The Uniform Shop is taking orders online through QKR. Please place your order by 8:30am Monday mornings to ensure that orders can be filled and sent home. Due to the current circumstances, please note that parents cannot enter the uniform shop; please wait outside the door. The shop is open on Monday mornings 9-9:30 if you need to purchase directly.
