Launch of the Compass Parent Portal
The launch of the Compass Parent Portal is imminent. We will be looking to go live with the Portal next term and have a period to phase out SZapp as our main communication app. Information regarding a timeline will be available in the first newsletter of next term. Attached are some ScreenShots of what the Portal will look like to parents on a Desktop and Mobile device.
If you have not provided an email address to the school or have changed your email recently, please contact the school ASAP to update your email contact.

End of Term
This is the last newsletter for the term. It has gone by very quickly and it is hard to imagine that 12 months ago we had only 20 students at school and everyone else was learning from home. A highlight for me this year so far has been being able to have events that parents can join in at school. Please come along to the Stations of the Cross on Thursday 1st April at 10am followed by K-2s Easter Hat Parade. Weather permitting this will be outside so we do not have to worry about the COVID restrictions of an indoor event.
Only Veterans will marching at Anzac Day services this year. We will have a focus on Anzac Day at our Friday assembly on 23rd April.
The students and staff have all worked very hard this term and deserve a well earned Easter Break
I hope you have a happy, safe and Holy Easter.
Open Day
We have already a class full of enrolments for Kinder 2022, and we are hoping for 2 kindergarten classes again next year. We are holding an Open Day after the Easter holiday break on Thursday April 22nd for any families wishing to tour the school. Please let people you know who may be interested to come along.
Parent/Teacher Interviews
Bookings for parent/teacher interviews are now open through the school app. You can choose to attend in person or be contacted by phone. I urge every family to take the opportunity to get some feedback on your child's progress.
School photographs are scheduled to be taken by advancedlife. An envelope was distributed to students on Tuesday 23 March, however if possible it is our preference that ordering be completed online to reduce administration and potential security issues related to the return of cash and envelopes on photo day.
Orders for packages and sibling photographs can be placed securely online at www.advancedlife.com.au using our school’s unique 9 digit advancedorder code.
- Portrait and group package orders are due by photography day.
- If you wish to purchase a sibling photograph online, the order must be placed no later than the day before photography day. Sibling photographs will only be taken if an order has been placed.
Should you have any queries concerning school photographs or online ordering, please contact us at www.advancedlife.com.au/contact.
SCHOOL BANKING
Due to a decline in numbers we have made the decision to cancel our school banking program after Term 1. If your child participates in school banking and you would like to know more please contact the office.
A reminder all families of the parking rules at car line. Remember, when you are lined up on the road at pick up time you are only permitted to be stopped for 2 minutes. If the line is not moving, advice from NSW Police is that parents and carers should drive around the block until they are able to enter the school grounds.
Please also remember that student supervision at car line is until 3:45pm, so arriving around or after 3:30 will help to ease the congestion at this time. It is not essential that you are at car line before 3:20pm (school finish time).
SCHOOL COUNSELLOR SERVICE
This year school counselling will be available all day on Mondays. School counselling is offered to help students cope with stress, emotional and behavioural issues, mental health difficulties, and improve students' overall well-being. To engage with school counselling the online referral form will need to be filled out and this can be done on a mobile phone. If you have any queries or concerns, please don’t hesitate to make contact with me through email at olivia.bowring-greer@catholiccare.cg.org.au
SCHOOL COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Looking for New Members
We are looking for new members for the School Community Council (SCC). The Council meets once or twice a term and provides advice and leadership in the areas of Catholic Identity and Faith, Leadership, Enrolment and Growth, Financial, Physical Resource and Academic Programs. We meet on a Thursday once or twice a term, please contact the office if you are interested.
A huge congratulations to each of our Year Three students who made their Sacrament of Reconciliation last night. The community of Saint Peter and Paul’s thanks the families for their support during this time and wish all our students well as they continue on their journey of faith.
Next week, we enter the most holy of weeks in the Church Calendar. As we prepare for the rising of our Lord on Easter Sunday, Holy Week concludes the forty days of Lent where we prepared for our Lord’s coming with almsgiving, fasting and prayer.
Our last day of school in Week 10 will be the first day of the Tridium; Holy Thursday. On this day, students will view the Stations of the Cross at school and continue to learn about the Season of Lent and Easter. On Good Friday, we commemorate Jesus’ passion, crucifixion and death. Holy Saturday focuses on the transition of Jesus’ death and his Resurrection. Then, Easter Sunday celebrates the Resurrection of our Lord and holds unto our Christian belief that our Lord conquered sin and through His Resurrection, we experience redemption.
During our Easter break, we are presented with the perfect time to pause, reflect and experience the importance of the faith and Easter in our lives.
The community of Ss Peter and Paul’s wishes you a safe break and all the blessings of Our Risen Lord!
Canberra Goulburn Sport Trials
Registrations for the following NSW Primary Sports Canberra Goulburn Trials are now OPEN for students in Years 5 & 6:
Touch Football - Close 27th April
Rugby Union - Close 24th May
Girl's Rugby 7's - Close TBA (Check the CSNSW Sport Website)
Please head to the Canberra Goulburn Sport Webpage for information regarding the trials and the link for registration.
It’s not too late to join us!
We are aiming to have teams in the 6's through to the 13's. We are also hoping to enter teams in the female competitions in the 7's, 9's and 11's.
Players do not need to attend the school to play for our club – we welcome anyone from any school. So get daycare/pre-school friends, family friends, friends that live in the same street… the more the merrier!
We are also seeking coaches, managers and sponsors for the upcoming season. Coaches do not need formal coaching qualifications. Managers are the organisational gurus – in charge of letting the players know when and where to play, organising jerseys and sometimes the lollipops for the end of the game. We are hoping to find some businesses who would like to assist in sponsoring our club in 2021. COVID gave us some challenges in 2020 – but we are really excited to bring some fun to our soccer community.
If you would like to join the fun as a player/coach/manager/sponsor – please contact us via the EOI or reach out to us on Facebook (Ss Peter & Paul’s Football Club) or send us an email sppsfc@gmail.com.
3/4Y's Goulburn Show Success
3/4Y entered a collaborative artwork into the 2021 Goulburn Show, winning a second place in their category. In Art this term, the students have been exploring Van Gogh and therefore their show entry was inspired by his Vase of Flowers collection. Using broken plates and cups, students applied a mosaic technique to give a boring vase a unique look. To give the artwork a pop of colour, they then made a variety of flowers from felt. You can check out their masterpiece in the foyer of the school office.
Students must wear Winter Uniform in Term 2 & 3.
Please ensure that if you would like any winter items sent home BEFORE the end of term order NO LATER than midnight Monday 29 March.
School Holiday Opening - Thursday 15 April 4:30 - 5:30pm
ALL winter uniform items are now available to buy.
There are also lots of pre-loved, budget-friendly items available to purchase.
All uniform orders on Qkr! will be filled at this time each week and sent home that day.
The canteen is looking for helpers. Please contact the office if you are interested.
Please note, if you order a frozen product in your child's lunch order they will need to take the bag to Mrs Bennett in the canteen to collect it.
On Friday 19 March, Stage 1 attended an excursion to the Canberra Zoo. We feared the weather might be against us, but it was a perfect day.
Teachers and students enjoyed looking at the animals, feeding the emu and dears. We learned a great deal about God’s wonderful creation.
Thank you to Mr Brown for organising an amazing experience for our children. Thank you also to the parents who volunteered their time to help and the teachers for taking Stage 1 students to the zoo, especially Mr Halder, Mrs Seaman and Mr Wigg.
We can’t wait to write about it in our writing lesson.
