P & F Meeting
Thanks to all who joined in the meeting. We hope next meeting will be in person however we will still let people Zoom in if we can.
The meeting discussed some fundraising ideas including pie drive, in school disco & dress ups, raffles, walkathon and perhaps a wine tour. We will go ahead and organise an 'in school' disco in student cohorts for Friday 11th March with 'Rainbow' as the theme (more details in this newsletter). We will also organise the annual Pie Drive again.
Our goal is to use school discos to subsidise swimming & excursions cost and other fundraisers to finish the hall sound system, screen & projector. We are also looking to upgrade our shade sail and we will try and attract a Veolia Mulwarre Grant for that project.
Keep you eye on Compass & the school newsletter for P&F news.
School Community Council
We have had 5 new people who have put their hand up to join the SCC. Thanks to Lauren Egan, Gemma Loberg, Deviga Vengedasalam, Scott Martin & Jennifer Keast for showing their interest.
At the first meeting matters discussed were the Role of the Community Council, growing enrolments, school finances, maintenance needs and the need for a building programme to up-grade the main building and getting better traffic flow in the school car park.
School Playground
The area where we place our school rubbish is very messy. We are looking for someone to fix the brick work in that area (and are happy to pay someone for this job). We are also looking for volunteers to whipper-snip a section of fence line and clean it up. Then we will try and get the fences fixed, especially in the area along Prince Street. If anyone has any time to volunteer it would be much appreciated. I hope we can run an “official” working bee later in the year.
Uniforms Reminders
Pride in our school uniform is important at Ss Peter and Paul’s.
Some rules to remember for boys and girls :
- No hat, no play.
Hair
- Long hair (Shoulder length or longer) should be tied back using ribbons and bands in school colours only. It should not cover the students face
Jewellery
- A watch, small pair of stud earrings are permitted. Religious medals are allowed if they are worn under the uniform. If earrings are worn a pair of earrings only; one in each ear, must be worn
- Bangles, bands, bracelets and rings are not to be worn (small signet rings are acceptable)
General Grooming
- Shoes should be polished regularly
- Nail polish and make up are not permitted
- The children should be consistently encouraged to wear their uniform with pride
- Please note that the PBC Bus #7 will not be running down Carrick Road until further notice due to the bridge upgrade. Please call PBC Buses on 4821 2320 if you have any questions.
-
Please review and return to school the Student Information Checklist and Consent form for Local Excursions.
CAR LINE PARKING RULES
A reminder all families of the parking rules at car line. Remember, when you are lined up on the road at pick up time you are only permitted to be stopped for 2 minutes. If the line is not moving, advice from NSW Police is that parents and carers should drive around the block until they are able to enter the school grounds.
Please also remember that student supervision at car line is until 3:45pm, so arriving around or after 3:30 will help to ease the congestion at this time. It is not essential that you are at car line before 3:20pm (school finish time).
Please also remember to leave neighbours driveways clear when waiting to pick your child up at the end of the day, especially if you are waiting behind the bus stop area.
EARLY PICK UP INFORMATION

CANTEEN PROCEDURES FOR 2022
Last year we had an overwhelming number of forgotten lunches and unpaid IOUs. This is a huge strain on the canteen manually and financially. Below are a few procedures put in place to keep the canteen running smoothly and effectively.
- How to Order – place order on the Qkr app or write order on a paper bag with cash inside.
- QKR! Orders – are due by 9.30am on the day. Please remember that you can order the night or days before. Also check that you have selected the correct day.
- Cancelled QKR! Orders - if you have placed an order and your child is not at school that day, you can cancel your order by going into “activities” and click on the minus icon before 9.30am. If you need to cancel the order after 9.30am please text Di on 0417 688 472 ASAP. If the order has already been prepared or made you may not receive a credit.
- No Lunch – if your child realises that they don’t have lunch before 10.00am a phone call will be made to parents. If lunch cannot be brought up to school, then the canteen can make lunch and an IOU will be sent home. If they realise after 10.00am a phone call will be made but only a sandwich can be made from the canteen- no hot food.
- Unpaid IOUs – please remember to pay your IOUs ASAP, either on Qkr or cash. This keeps the prices low.
Canteen Helpers – at the moment we cannot have helpers. When restrictions ease Di will be looking for helpers on Thursdays and Fridays from 9.30am – 11.30am. Please contact Di on 0417 688 472 if you would like to know more information.
- Students must wear Summer Uniform in Terms 1 & 4. All summer uniform items are now available to buy. New uniform purchases can be ordered on Qkr. The order will be filled on Tuesdays and sent home with your child.
- If you are wanting to purchase some 2nd hand uniforms please visit the uniform shop during the opening hours.
From the Student and Family Counsellor
Dear families,
You might be feeling exhausted, strung out, confused, overwhelmed, [insert your own describing word] and you might be thinking… “it’s only week 4!!”.
You are not alone, the last two years particularly, have left most of us in a bit of a spin and you might feel as though you are playing catch up with a constantly changing world, on top of everything else that we juggle on a day to day basis.
Self-care has never been more important for individuals and families to maintain health, reduce stress and enhance energy.
Having self-care as a priority for families helps parents become better carers and models positive behaviour for children to adopt once they become adults.
Choosing the self-care that works for you
Self-care strategies can be different for everyone, taking time for self-care is not always easy but a good start would be engaging in something small each day, week or month.
Some great tips from Reach Out suggests how you and your family can figure out the best options for everyone.
What self-care looks like for you?
- what activities make you feel good and recharged?
- What would you like to do more of?
- Are there any activities that you look forward to during the week?
- What would your ideal day look like? What activities would you do?
Commit to routine
It is important to also set out your individual self-care plans.
Put your individual self-care plans into the family planner and make it a priority.
It is important that self-care should be seen as an ongoing well-being strategy rather than to be used in the case of an emergency or when we are too overwhelmed.
