Well we are half way through the school year. I hope that the discussions you had with teachers at parent/teacher interviews in Term 1 reflected some improvements in the half yearly report. Remember staff are always happy for you to make an appointment to discuss your child’s progress.
This term is once again very jam packed. We are celebrating Grandparents Day this year by inviting them to a day time viewing of our Art Show. They will be served Morning Tea and listen to some musical performances. They will then be invited to have a picnic lunch with their grandchildren.
Please put the 20th September in your calendar. The Art Show will also be open from 4-6pm for parent viewing that day.
Another date to mark on your calendar will be 24th September. This year we will be having the very talented Andrew Chinn who writes and performs Religious Education songs for children. He will be working with the students during the day and they will put on a concert at 2.20pm that day singing his songs. His music is very popular with the students. Andrew did a workshop here with our staff and staff from 3 other schools on Monday and had us all moving around doing actions and singing his songs. I guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy his concert.
Enrolments
During this term serious discussions are held with head office about staffing of the school for 2020. I need your help in continuing to encourage people to enrol at our school. I am happy to give prospective parents a tour at any time. Don’t forget to mention our great playgroup that meets every Tuesday in term time from 10am-12noon.
Fundraising
Thanks for your support of the Woolworths Earn and Learn stickers. With the points raised we have bought some more Robotics for the school. These should arrive in Term 4.
Please organise to come along to the Trivia Night. It is a very fun night!

FEAST DAY MARKETS
Thank you to the Mini Vinnies and Year 5/6 students for organising a wonderful and very successful market day to celebrate the Ss. Peter and Paul’s Feast Day, held in Week 9 of Term 2. $1022 was raised, with this money being donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Winter Appeal.
Thank you to all the students, families and teachers for supporting this event – a fun-filled day was had by all!
NAIDOC MASS
NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. NAIDOC Week (held from 7-14 July) is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an opportunity to recognise the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and our society. The 2019 theme was - Voice. Treaty. Truth. Let’s work together for a shared future. Our School Leaders and Indigenous students will be attending the Annual NAIDOC Mass this Friday 26th July at St Christopher’s Cathedral in Manuka, Canberra.
THE FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION
On Thursday 15th August we celebrate a special feast of Mary the Mother of Jesus, the Assumption. Students in Years 3-6 will travel to Ss Peter and Paul’s Cathedral to celebrate Mass with students from St Joseph’s Primary school and the Parish community.
This feast is a celebration of God’s great and special love of Mary who was so faithful to the will of God that upon her death, she received the fullness of God’s life in heaven. She was an ordinary woman who placed her trust so completely in God. Through her life we see the great blessings that can come to us when we believe and trust in God’s way. Like Mary may we open our hearts, our minds, and our lives to the greatness of God. May we grow to trust God in our lives and shine with the radiance of God’s love as Mary did.

The Book Week Parade is in Week 5, Friday 23rd August 10-10:45am. The theme is "Reading is my Secret Power".
On Friday 2nd August, 5/6H students have organised a casual clothes day to raise funds for STEM equipment. All students are invited to wear sports colours (football teams, soccer teams, basketball etc), to school with a gold coin donation.
We have recently purchased a set of micro:bits and robotic mice for coding and robotic projects. We are raising money to pay for these items, we are aiming to raise $400. You may have seen Stage 3 using their micro:bits in a recent Facebook video and Stage 2 using the mice to create sequenced coding. 5/6H students are looking forward to sharing these learning activities across the school during the coming terms.
Welcome back to term 3.
A big thank you to Trish, Dawn, Kylie and Karen for helping with the red day, the kids enjoyed it.
