If your child arrives at school after the start of class (which is 9.20am), a parent or guardian MUST accompany them to the office and sign them via our Compass Kiosk at the front desk.
Please do not 'drop and run' at car line or the front gate.
If you do not sign your child in via the office, they will be marked 'Late - Unexplained'. The school will then issue a notice to parents asking for an explanation for the late arrival. It is a legal requirement that any absence has a satisfactory explanation, and our head office in Canberra has requested that schools follow this procedure.

TERM 3 REMINDERS - Everyday Details at a Glance
Late Drop Off/Early Pick up
- Please remember that if you are running late and arrive at school after 9.20am, parents MUST come to the front office and sign their child/ren in.
- BELL TIMES - Please come outside of these times if you need to collect your child early:
- School Start 9.20am
- 1st Break (lunch) 11.25am-12.05pm
- 2nd break (recess) 1.25pm - 2pm
- School Finish 3.20pm
Car Line & Parent Parking
- We remind parents that car line is the most appropriate and safest place to drop your child/ren off at school in the morning, and pick them up in the afternoon. This is a 'kiss and go' system where you should not hop out of the car. If your child/ren need help to get in and out of the car, or you wish to walk them to their classroom in the morning, we ask that you park on Prince Street (outside car line) and not in car line, the very limited staff parking spaces, or in the all day spaces on Knox Street (see map below).
- At the end of the day when you are lined up on the road at pick up time you are only permitted to be stopped for 2 minutes. If the line is not moving, advice from NSW Police is that parents and carers should drive around the block until they are able to enter the school grounds.
- Please also remember that student supervision at car line is until 3:45pm, so arriving around or after 3:30 will help to ease the congestion at this time. It is not essential that you are at car line before 3:20pm (school finish time).
- Please also remember to leave neighbours driveways clear when waiting to pick your child up at the end of the day, especially if you are waiting behind the bus stop area.
Compass Absentee Forms
- Any unexplained absence reminders will be emailed to families on a weekly basis. Please ensure you complete the Compass absentee form for any whole day absenses in a timely manner. It is a legal requirement that any absence from school has a satisfactory explanation.
- Please only submit whole day absences via Compass (i.e. do not change the time in the absentee form). If you are dropping off late or picking up early you do not need to complete the absentee as you are required to sign your child in/out at the front office.
Personal Items, Mobile Phones, and Devices
- Children SHOULD NOT bring toys, personal and valuable items to school.
- Any mobile phones or personal electronic devices need to be handed in to the office before classes start and collected at home time.
Uniform and Equipment
- HATS ARE COMPULSORY EVERY DAY EXCEPT FOR THE 'J' MONTHS (JUNE & JULY).
- Please pack a water bottle for your child/ren. Bubblers are available.
- Please ensure that your child/ren's belongings are labelled clearly
- Lost property is located in the front office
Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,
Miss Neely on Extended Leave
Kathy Neely will take some additional leave beyond the first three weeks of this term, as originally planned. Mr Bradley Brown will continue as Acting Principal and Mrs Cassandra Harris will continue as Acting Assistant Principal until further notice.
Lunch Orders
Please ensure that you order your child's lunch on Qkr before 9am as we have had a large number of forgotten lunches. Please refresh your mind with the ordering procedures below in the Canteen section of our newsletter.
St Mary Mackillop
Tuesday, August 8th will be the Feast Day of St Mary of the Cross Mackillop. Even though Mary died on the 8th August 1909 her influence is still very much evident in the Catholic Church of Australia. As we join in celebrating Mary MacKillop’s feast this year, we are called to embrace the values that were at the heart of all she did. Her deep love for those she encountered along the journey of life came from knowing that she was the beloved of God. She was described by her Sisters as being a big-hearted woman whose love knew no boundaries.
Mary MacKillop brought a heart-centred church to the struggling communities of her time consoling sorrowing hearts, embracing hardships with compassion and educating thousands of children. Her deepest desire was that each one would be assured that the living God walked with them wherever life took them.
Her encouragement to the Sisters at a very difficult time for the fledging Institute to ‘take fresh courage’ is as pertinent today as it was then. In a troubled world let us hear her voice calling us to ‘take fresh courage’ as we work for justice and peace.
May we be clothed in her love as we celebrate her deep compassion, her courageous approach in difficult times, her passionate commitment to God’s mission and her deep spirituality.
May God who companioned Mary MacKillop in her life enfold you in love on this day.
Please pray for us St Mary of the Cross Mackillop.
May our families know of the blessings of God,
Bradley Brown, Principal (Acting)

Seventy students from years 3-6 participated in the NSW Touch Gala Day last week. The aim of the day was to give students an opportunity to participate and learn how to play Touch in a fun, non-competitive environment. We played games against Goulburn North, Goulburn East and Marulan. Well done to all our teams who showed great sportsmanship and improvement throughout the day.
We would like to send a big thank you to our parent coaches, Mr Harris, Mrs Hallam, Mrs Maxwell, Mr Cosgrove, Mr Martin and Mrs Butler! Your time and guidance is much appreciated by all involved.

My name is Madi and I have been a part of the Catholiccare Student and Family Counselling team since 2022. I am available at Ss Peter and Paul’s every Monday.
Catholiccare has merged with Marymead during the holiday break. There are no changes to our service delivery. The only change you may see will be our official title of Marymead Catholiccare Canberra Goulburn. Please also note our email address will be updated to reflect the new organisation (eg firstname.lastname@mccg.org.au).
If your child was seen by the School Counsellor last year and you would like them to receive support in 2023, we require you to complete a new counselling registration form. New referrals will also require you to complete the counselling registration form. Questions or requests can be directed to the office, your child’s class teacher or School Counsellor (madelyn.burns@mccg.org.au).
Referral Link: https://catholiccare.force.com/housing/s/school-referral-form
Parent consent for counselling continues to be required for all primary school students and will be sought and provided via email or phone call. Where parents are separated, we require the consent of both parents. Once the referral has been received by myself - School Counsellor - I will make contact with parents on my next day at Ss Peter and Paul’s to further discuss the referral.
Driving and parking safely near school
The beginning and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.
You can help keep children safe by remembering the following:
- drop your child off and pick them up on the school side of the road
- never call out to them from across the road - it is very dangerous
- always take extra care in 40km school zones
- follow all parking signs - these help keep your child as safe as possible
- park responsibly even if it means you have to walk further to the school gate
- never double park - it is illegal and puts children at risk
- never do a U-turn or a three point turn outside the school as it puts children at risk of harm
- model safe and considerate pedestrian and driver behaviours to your child
- always give way to pedestrians particularly when entering and leaving driveways.
COMMUNITY EVENTS
Goulburn Lilac Fairy Hunt 2023
The Lilac Fairy Hunt is a first ever Goulburn annual event. Run in conjunction with the Lilac City Festival, Cystic Fibrosis Goulburn and District and the Goulburn Mulwaree Council, this event is sure to bring smiles to the children's faces as they go hunting for their fairies.
The event involves 40 fairies being placed around the Goulburn Mulwaree Region, hosted in local businesses and Goulburn Mulwaree Council locations, then the participants seek to find these fairies as some spring-time holiday fun!
Tickets are sold for $10 pp at the Goulburn Information Centre and each participant will be provided with a booklet that outlines where the fairies are hosted. Tickets will also be available in key locations in Goulburn to be released soon sold by our amazing volunteer staff.
