From the Principal
Welcome back everyone to 2022. We are now no longer COVID SAFE but COVID SMART (love the government’s new spin). The year began with our swimming carnival and many new enrolments across the school. I hope you will make these families feel part of our school community. This year we have 12 classes and over 280 students enrolled. If you know of families looking for a school in 2023 they need to get in quickly.
COVID 19
Under the guidelines for schools, parents & carers can enter school grounds for a short time at the start of the term to help students settle into classes. They must be conscious of social distancing requirements in buildings. Starting from Week 3 (Monday 7 February), we ask parents to use our two entry points (car line & front gate) to pick up & drop off students. Kindergarten students will be walked to these points, as well as bus lines, from this date.
If you haven’t picked up your child’s RAT test please contact the office. Each Student will have enough tests until Monday 14 February . Arrangements will be made to hand out more tests when supplies arrive. Please check the daily Compass notifications for advice about notification of positive tests and isolation rules.
NEW STAFF
A special welcome to new staff Mrs Brown in Year 1 and Mrs Neville who will be doing some teacher relief on Mondays. Mrs Brushaber will be joining the staff 3 days a week as a Classroom Support Assistant. Also welcome to Mark Holburn who is our new school counsellor. Further information about the counselling service is in this newsletter.
School hours are from 9.20am to 3.20pm. Staff supervision begins at 8.30am, with car line supervision until 3.45pm & bus line until the last child is picked up. If you need your child to be here outside of these hours please ring the office to make a reasonable arrangement.
Please take care in the car line and be aware of the rules that apply to traffic on Princes Ave. Many people received traffic fines in that area last year. Later in the newsletter there is a diagram to study about traffic & parking restrictions in that area.
Please ensure your child brings a hat for outside play and a full water bottle for the day to limit their contact with the school bubblers.
I encourage you to keep in touch with your child’s teacher by email. You can find this on Compass by typing in the teacher’s name and clicking the link. Please be respectful of staff hours and allow a period of time for teachers to reply. If the matter is urgent let the office know and they will bring it to the teachers attention.
We are looking forward to a great 2022 and please all keep safe.
