SHROVE TUESDAY
Our Shrove Tuesday pancake breakfast was a huge success. A huge thank you to our Mini-Vinnies who lived out two of our Mercy Values by providing Service to their school community with Excellence. We also think they have a greater appreciation for people in the food industry. Especially those of us working under Monet's supervision, as she treated us all like she was Gordon Ramsey.
Our pancake breakfast raised $80 for Project Compassion and we are so grateful to all the parents who joined us and those who sent in money for their children to participate. For more information about Project Compassion please see attached link: https://www.caritas.org.au/project-compassion/
Spanning across the six weeks of Lent each year, Project Compassion brings thousands of Australian schools, parishes and supporters together to raise funds for people living in some of the most vulnerable communities across the world.
LENT
Last week, we welcomed the Season of Lent with Ash Wednesday Mass at Our Lady of Fatima
As an adult, Lent offers us a time to reflect on our lives and work to strengthen our relationship with God.
Have you ever been driving with a GPS and gone the wrong way? The GPS then tells you that you need to re-route and says to do a U-Turn as soon as possible. Lent is like this for us. It is a beautiful season that allows us to look at the path we are on and review if we are moving closer to God or heading in the wrong direction. We begin the re-routing on Ash Wednesday. These forty days are given to us as a gift. They are God's way of helping us to make U-turns. His voice, unlike my GPS, is gentle and full of compassion.
During Lent, we read an invitation from Jesus to come and make a quiet space in our lives and to spend time with Him. We can hear his voice more clearly in this space as he calls us gently back to Him.
