Fred Hollows Foundation
The Fred Hollows Foundation was launched as an Australian charitable foundation in Sydney on 3rd September 1992 (five months before Fred died) to continue the work of Fred Hollows in providing eye care for the underprivileged and the poor.
Achievements - Fred Hollows. Fred was an eye surgeon of thousands of men, women and children each year. His work in relation to blindness is still applied today.
Frederick Cossom Hollows was a New Zealand-Australia ophthalmologist (a specialist in the branch of medicine concerned with the study and treatment of disorders and diseases of the eye) who became known for his work in restoring eyesight for thousands of people in Australia and many other countries.
Fred died of cancer of the kidney and died at the age of 63 (9th April 1929-10th February 1993).
3/4M donated $80 to the Fred Hollows Foundation to support the work in eye surgery
that has been going for many years. We donated our money to the support of eye surgery within the indigenous communities of Australia.
Kindy Readiness
On Wednesday afternoon, 28th August, 3/4M hosted the Kinder Readiness program. First of all Mrs McVey read a book called Mini - Beasts, it was a rhyming book. Then we sang “If I were a butterfly”. Sam played along on his guitar too. We then coloured in double sided butterflies. The choir members in our class came to the front of the room and sang “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars.
It was a great afternoon and the little ones did not want to go home at the end of the afternoon because they were enjoying it so much. (There was even tears!!)
