From the Principal
We are almost halfway through the term and I hope heading for some warmer weather, so please make sure your child has a hat to wear. We have many in lost property without names on them; I am happy for your child to take one and put their name on it if they need one.
SCC Meeting
The School Community Council met in Week 3 and spent a good part of the meeting looking at the ideas and proposals the architects have for our Master Plan. The plan targets ideas allowing for enrolment growth, car parking & drop off, upgrading buildings, walkways to move around the school and outdoor learning areas. The plan’s focus is on rebuilding the two oldest buildings in the school -the chapel/music room and the Kinder/Admin block. These buildings have major maintenance work needed and the recommendation is they be demolished and replaced with more modern purpose built buildings. It would be a staged process of rebuilding these areas. With growing enrolments the plan also adds scope for more classrooms to be built. Plans are in the very early stages and when a more concrete proposal is put forward I will share it with the school community. We will then begin talks with our Head Office in Canberra on how to finance the work. We are very lucky to have such a large block of land for the school. It gives room to build and still have an open-spaced play area.
Walkathon Fundraising
Lots of money is coming in for the Walkathon and we have already made a down payment on getting the shade structures for the two play areas up before the summer is upon us. With these and our new mural our playground will look very smart. We are very grateful to the school community for their support of this project.
Student Progress
There are no official interviews or written reports done on student progress this term. Staff are always happy to discuss your child’s progress. You email anytime through Compass to set up a phone call or in person interview.
