From the Principal
MUSICAL
I hope you all had a wonderful break. I couldn’t start the term without again praising everyone’s efforts for the school musical. It is one thing to watch rehearsals and another to see it performed live. I heard a Kinder father say “It brought tears to his eyes to see the Kinder’s performing”, and another said “It was not so much the content of show that moved her but how much the children were enjoying it. They seemed to burst off the stage!”. The joy of finally seeing our hall full of people after such a long time thrilled me personally. I hope this term parents will be welcome at all school events. We are especially looking forward to our Carol’s Night & BBQ on 7 December which will again involve all classes.
IMPORTANT DATES
Please keep your eye on the School Calendar for all the important dates in Term 4 & beyond. Updates & reminders are regularly posted on the school app.
STAFFING IN 2023
In 2023 the school will be moving from 12 to 13 classes. We will also see some staff changes with Mrs Halder taking 12 months leave, Ms Jenkins transferring to a Canberra Catholic school to be closer to home & Mrs Hunt going on maternity leave. I will thank them more personally closer to the end of the school year. As well as this, Mr Halder will move into a relief role in 2023.
These changes offer an opportunity to employ new staff in 2023 and move existing staff around in different year level classes. I have begun employing new staff & I am pleased to say that Mrs MacGregor will be joining us as a fulltime classroom teacher. Other new teachers joining the staff will be Mr Owen Gerrard (currently teaching in Canberra), Mrs Emma Huggett (currently working in Yass) and Mr Roger Myers. I am sure you will make them all feel very welcome.
Information about the process of creating classes for 2023 will be sent out later in the term.
COVID UPDATE
In Term 4 all CECG Schools including SS. Peter & Paul’s will return to normal activities, subject to any adjustments that may be required to be made from time to time due to staffing shortages or any COVID requirements that are implemented.
Key points to note:
- From 14 October 2022, there will no longer be any requirement to quarantine where a person tests positive to COVID-19. It is requested that persons who are COVID positive do not attend school when they are unwell as they would if they had flu like symptoms due to the removal of many COVID restrictions.
- All school activities including Masses, liturgies, assemblies , sports events etc will be open for families to attend.
- People are welcome on the school grounds . If you are on school grounds between 9.20am & 3.20pm you must sign in at the school office.
SCHOOL COUNSELLOR
Mark, our current school counsellor, has advised us that he needs to take some personal leave across Term 4. We have an alternative counsellor available, Leanne Fawcett, who can support the school. Mark will be available to do a handover in week 1 with Leanne to ensure a seamless transition for students.
