From the Principal
Last week we had the opportunity to honour some of our long-standing staff members. We farewelled Vicki Chilko & thanked her for her 27 years of service, as well as honouring Carmel Halder & Toni-Gaye Bush for their ongoing 80 years plus of service between them. I think it is an important part of our school community to recognise the “elders” amongst us. Their care, wisdom and loyalty to Catholic Education are to be admired & celebrated. Catholic Education was started by the nuns & brothers and now these lay people are the inheritors of that role. They demonstrate our Catholic Values in all the work they had done for their students over the years. Well done Vicki, Carmel & Toni-Gaye. Your work has touched many lives.
ATTENDANCE REMINDERS
Families, please take note of these items from the ATTENDANCE POLICY:
- Students need to be at school & on time. Schools must make a mandatory report if students are chronically late or absent. Long absences for illness can require a medical certificate.
- If you are having trouble getting your child to school please contact your child’s teacher so together we can come up with a plan of action to improve attendance rates.
The ATTENDANCE POLICY states:
- Under ACT and NSW law, students must attend the school they are enrolled in for the times required by that school, unless the student’s absence is approved by the Principal or their delegate.
- Parents/carers must ensure children of mandatory school age are enrolled in school or an approved alternative education program, or in approved employment.
- Parents/carers must ensure that enrolled students attend every day of school, and every activity or event the school requires the student to attend, during the required times. This is known as the ‘full-time participation’ requirement.
- Parents/carers must provide an explanation to the school for any absence, ideally on or before the day of absence, and no more than five school days after the absence occurs. Parents/carers may be liable under the ACT or NSW Education Acts if students fail to attend school without a reasonable excuse.
TELL THEM FROM ME SURVEY
In the coming weeks we will be inviting students, teachers and parents to provide feedback on their experience of our school using an online survey. The surveys are an important part of our whole school evaluation and planning process.
We would like to invite you to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning survey. As we value the role of parents and carers within our school community we would greatly appreciate your feedback. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing at Ss Peter & Paul’s Primary School.
The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. You are able to access the parent survey on your computer or mobile device by using the following link >> http://tellthemfromme.com/s4b24
