Congratulations to Ella, Sophie, Bronte and Molly for the great results at the PSSA Athletics in Sydney.

CLASSES in 2020

In 2020 I am fairly confident that we will be having a similar class structure to this year. That is a Kinder, K/1, 1/2, 2, 3/4, 3, 4 and three 5/6’s. Three staff will be taking maternity leave in 2020. Congratulations to Mrs Salmon, Mrs Hunt and Mrs Brown. Mrs Brown will be on leave from the end of Term 1. Mrs Sue McVey will be taking long service leave in weeks 1-7 of Term 1 2020 and on her return will be doing support work in the school. There will be other changes as to which classes staff will be taking. In organizing classes many factors make up the class placements including splitting siblings, personality clashes and a range of abilities in each class. Staff spend a lot of time going over these decisions trying to come up with a split to help children work their best. The final decisions are made by myself and in the best interests of staff and students. Some parents like to request particular teachers for their children, however I cannot respond to these requests as I need parents to have confidence that we will make the best decisions for students as all the staff at the school are highly capable. If you have anything you would like to say about classes in 2020 please put in writing ASAP.

SCHOOL LEADERS

Students from Year 5 are invited to nominate themselves for a role as a school leader in 2020. Students from Yrs 3-6 will be listening to their speeches and vote in Week 6 to select our leaders for 2020. At this time it a good time to reflect on leadership. My go to person is the best leader I know. Jesus. He taught us that leadership is not about exerting power or popularity. It is about service to others and being humble. In the Gospel of Matthew Jesus said “If you want to be great, you must be a servant of all others”. This prayer says it well –“ Lord we ask to help us see our job of leadership in our school as a chance to act the message of the Gospel-serve and not be served, love and not be selfish, care and not be demanding, trust and not be suspicious, be open and not judge, be humble and yet inspire confidence. “AMEN”
