FROM THE PRINCIPAL
I always look forward to the first day of term to see the bright, shiny faces to start my day and students looking neat as a pin in their new uniform. Students here are keen to learn more and reunite with their friends. A very warm welcome to all the new families starting at Ss Peter and Paul’s this year. If you see a new face in the playground I urge you to go up and say hello and introduce yourself. Families new to town love to find out how the school works and what’s available here in Goulburn.
A special welcome to the new staff members – Mr Garreth Wigg- Acting Assistant Principal, Ms Tracey Jenkins-5/6J , Mr Davis Collinge-4C, Miss Rowena Atkinson -5/6 A and Mrs Kara Schilt our new Office helper and Learning Support Assistant.
Our school calendar is on our app & school website. It is important to check the School App in case there are changes to the calendar.
Our school year for staff began on Tuesday with a very special Mass at Our Lady of Fatima with the other staff’s in the Goulburn Mission-Trinity Catholic College, St Joseph’s- North Goulburn and St Mary’s, Crookwell.
We are opening the school year with a special combined Mass at the Cathedral with the 3 Catholic Schools in Goulburn on Friday 10am in the Cathedral. We have so many students involved we are sorry that seating for families will be very limited. Our Years 3-6 students will be attending. At this Mass our school leader’s badges will be blessed. In the afternoon we will be having an Induction ceremony for our school leaders as part of our Friday Assembly. This begins at 2.45pm. All are welcome to attend.
Our playgroup begins again next Tuesday. Children are welcome from 0-5 years old and do not need to have siblings in our school. Playgroup begins at 9.30am-11.30am. You are always welcome in the room for a cuppa before it begins.
All families we need you to complete the LOCAL Excursion Form ASAP. This covers student’s attendance and travel to any event during the school year in the Goulburn area. Staff take these forms with them to all events they attend. It is important to let the office know if any of your contact or medical details change.
This year instead of having Grade Nights we will be having a Welcome BBQ on Tuesday 11th of February from 5-7pm and a chance to visit the classrooms and meet the teachers. There will also be a meeting at 6.30pm for all Kindergarten parents in their classroom. Anyone who can help with the BBQ will be appreciated.
Finally a school community works best when we communicate openly and honestly. Please feel free to ask questions and offer feedback. I encourage also finding a way to contribute to the school by helping in classrooms, covering books, helping at sporting events, joining the P&F & helping in the uniform shop. The list goes on and every offer of help is appreciated.
