From the Principal
Thank you to families for your continued understanding during this nasty flu season with staff & students needing to take off extended periods of time. Please keep filling in Compass to explain your child’s absences. If you are seeing a doctor a medical certificate for lengthy absences is a good idea.
ENROLMENTS
Our enrolments for Kindergarten are very healthy. I am in discussions with our head office on how we can accommodate the influx of enrolments. If you know anyone who’s keen to come in 2025 encourage them to get in their applications forms ASAP.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
As we continue to work together to support the academic and personal growth of our students, we understand the important role that home life plays in their success. Here are some practical tips to help your child at home:
Create a Structured Environment
- Set a Schedule: Establish a regular routine for homework, meals, and bedtime. Consistency helps children know what to expect and when.
- Designate a Study Area: Create a quiet, well-lit space for your child to complete their homework and study without distractions.
Encourage Good Study Habits
- Break Down Tasks: Help your child break down large assignments into smaller, more manageable parts and set deadlines for each part.
- Use a Planner: Encourage the use of a planner or calendar to keep track of assignments, tests, and extracurricular activities.
Stay Informed and Involved
- Communicate with Teachers: Maintain regular communication with your child’s teachers to stay updated on their progress and any areas that need attention.
- Attend School Events: Participate in parent-teacher meetings, school events, and workshops to stay engaged with the school community.
Promote Reading and Learning
- Read Together: Set aside time to read with your child daily. Discuss the books and ask questions to enhance comprehension.
- Explore Interests: Encourage your child to explore subjects they are passionate about through books, documentaries, and educational websites.
Foster a Positive Attitude
- Praise Effort, Not Just Results: Recognize and praise your child’s effort and hard work, not just their grades. This helps build a growth mindset.
- Stay Positive: Maintain a positive attitude towards learning and school. Your enthusiasm will influence your child’s attitude towards their education.
Teach Life Skills
- Time Management: Help your child develop time management skills by planning their day and setting priorities.
- Problem Solving: Encourage your child to solve problems independently, providing guidance only when necessary.
Ensure Health and Well-being
- Healthy Eating: Provide nutritious meals and snacks to keep your child’s energy levels up.
- Physical Activity: Encourage regular physical activity to help your child stay healthy and focused.
Use Technology Wisely
- Educational Apps and Websites: Utilize educational apps and websites that can reinforce what your child is learning in school.
- Monitor Screen Time: Set limits on screen time and ensure it does not interfere with homework, sleep, or physical activities.
By implementing these strategies, you can create a supportive home environment that encourages your child's academic and personal growth. Remember, your involvement and encouragement are key to their success.
