The rare 'Lesser Northern Sloof' was migrating through Goulburn on April 1 and Year 4 students took the opportunity to head out to the oval in the hope of seeing one taking a rest in the trees near the cricket nets.

Students were asked not to look at them as they are shy and told that they might land on your open palm if you call out "Sloof" with a long, high-pitched voice...

After a good 10 minutes of "Sloof Sloof!", with many students claiming that they "saw one", as the teachers' slowly began failing in their attempts to stifle the giggles, many of the students began to suspect that they had been taken for fools, before finally realising what 'Sloof' is backwards...
