From the Principal
Kinder Orientation
It was wonderful to speak online about our school to all the families whose children are attending Kindergarten here in 2021. At this stage we have 47 students for our two Kinder classes, and we look forward to meeting them at our Orientation Days on the 3rd & 10th November. We still have room in all our classes for 2021 so if you know anyone interested please encourage them to contact us. During the phone interviews I have had with new families they have often mentioned that they had heard positive things from families already enrolled. Word of mouth is great form of selling our school.
Book Week Parade
Thanks to families for supporting our Book Week parade. The children all looked great. Remember the show has been recorded and you can watch via a link on Seesaw or Google classrooms.
Reports Survey
We had over 50 respondents to our Semester 2 report survey, with a significant majority favouring comments be kept in the student reports. Thank you to those who provided feed back. Semester 2 reports will be sent home with comments at the end of Week 9. They will be formatted to be a little easier to read by point form. The first section will list your child’s gains in learning and the second section will be suggestions of areas or ways learning could improve.
Classes in 2021
As you can appreciate setting up classes and staff for 2021 is complex. We use a computer programme called “Class Creator” to help with this job. A note will be going home about the programme we use and the factors we take into account in organising class groupings. The note will have a section for you to write down the names of your child’s friends so that can also be considered. However we must also be realistic that sometimes our friends in the playground are not the people who we do our best learning with. This would be important to discuss with your child when writing down these names. Prompt returning of the form would be appreciated.
Youth Minister
We are pleased to welcome Gerard Teng our Parish’s Youth Minister to our school. He will be working at the school one day a week as part of CYSMA (Catholic Youth School’s Mission Australia).
