Bus Safety Week 22nd-28th February
Millions of Trips
Parents and carers - always hold your child’s hand
Drivers
Buses can’t stop quickly and drivers should:
• Look out for children on footpaths or crossing the street, especially around schools, buses and bus stops
• Leave plenty of space when you’re driving or stopped around buses, to keep children safe and improve bus drivers’ vision of the road environment
• Remember that lights flash on the front and back of buses to warn motorists that they’re picking up or dropping off kids. But whether bus lights are flashing or not, it’s best to slow down because when buses stop, children can be nearby
• Also remember to give way to buses pulling out from bus stops and to not merge too closely in front of buses.
