The Earth’s resources

In 1/2SA we have been learning about the Earth’s place in space, the moon phases and now we are looking at the resources that are important here on Earth.

“The most important resource is the atmosphere”, (says Elsie, Ava, Astrid, CJ, Matilda, Noah and Charlie).

“If we didn’t have the atmosphere, the sky would look black and we wouldn’t be able to hear” (said Izabella and Miah)

“The atmosphere protects the Earth from meteors, and the sun’s harmful rays.” (Said Noah and Sonia)

“Without the atmosphere we would have no plants to grow”(said Sonia )

“Water is another important resource on Earth.” Said Henry.

“If we didn’t have the atmosphere some animals wouldn’t be alive.” Said Gracie

“The atmosphere is made from different types of gases 6 or 7 different types I think” said Astrid.

“If we didn’t have O2 then we couldn’t breathe” said Izabella and Elsie.

“If we didn’t have gravity we would float.”said Dylan

“Without the atmosphere our planet would not be the same. Nothing could live here.” Said Scarlett.

“Another of Earth’s important resources is soil. If we didn’t have soil, nothing could grow.” Said Loc

“Ozone is in the atmosphere.” Said Charlie

“The atmosphere makes the Earth look blue.” Said Dakota

“Rivers and lakes are important in the water cycle. I have a good book about the Earth and space”. Said Wyatt.

“Rocks are an important resource on the EARTH.”Said Hamish.

“”Soil is dirt.”

The most important thing we learned in 1/2SA is that without the atmosphere, water or soil, then we would be dead!

We looked at our school and examined the soil and decided what is good soil and what is poor soil.

We took some photos to share.

We learned that the Aboriginal people were farmers and understood how to use the resources to produce foods without causing too much harm to the environment. We hope to protect the Earth's natural resources for future generations.
