Professional Development
I have been in Melbourne for the past few days with a group of Principals and staff members from the Catholic Education Office visiting some school that have been idenitified as high performing schools in Australia. I was asked to be part of the group to make some comparisons with our own school improvement journey that we are undertaking through the Literacy and Numeracy Action Plan. In Term 4 we are expecting Principals from other schools to be visiting our school to look at some of the changes we have made in pedagogy in our school. Data is showing us that our K-2 students are making great progress in reading and writing. I will report more on my trip in the future.
Retirement of Father Dermid
Our warmest wishes and thanks go out to Father Dermid our parish priest in his retirement. The school community thanks him for all his support of the school especially his guidance in all spiritual matters. We look forward to our new parish priest (Fr Joshy) who will arrive in term 4. Father Lolesio is moving to Cootamundra parish. We thank him for his work in our school.
Ready Set Go
Our Kinder Readiness programme has finished for the year. It is a whole staff effort supported by our students that makes this programme work. We hope the families involved have enjoyed their visits to our school. We have about 32 students for Kinder next year. We will always welcome more. We look forward to meeting new Kinder families at our Information evening on the 29th of October and orientation visits on the 5th and 12th of November.

WEEK 8
Snow In The Springtime by K/1W
On Tuesday we woke up to a town covered in snow ! It was absolutely beautiful. In the classroom, K/1W used the grounds of the school as their inspiration to write some creative stories about the Winter wonderland. The children also got some lovely snaps taken. Here are a few of their masterpieces.
A snow story by Ava C.B
Yesterday was Tuesday and it snowed. All the roads were covered in snow. I made a snowman and had a snow ball fight, I won. It was fun playing in the snow. I love the snow. Goulburn got a lot of snow. Goulburn is lucky it snowed yesterday. I love the snow. It snowed so much and so much. I made big foot prints in the snow. The snow was thick. It rained and snowed. The kids in my class went to KH. We had four kids in KH. It snowed everywhere. It was very cold and wet. I had to go the office way to get in my class to put my bag away. We had to go to the library.
A snow story by Austin R
Yesterday it snowed. I made a snow angel, a snow man and super big foot prints. I took pictures in the snow and I bounced on the trampoline. When I bounced on it the snow came up and down. I rode my scooter on the trampoline.

Fruit & Veg superpower your meals!
Did you know only about 5% of NSW children eat enough vegetables? And the statistics are similar for adults. Our school has registered for Fruit & Veg Month – a fun and educational health promotion event that puts a positive focus on fruit and vegetables.
Superpower your family meals by including more fruit and veg:
Make sure you include fruit or vegetables at every meal. The more meals that contain fruit and vegetables, the more fruit and vegetables your family will eat!
<! Up the veg in an instant in your family dinner faves – add a can of legumes (e.g. chickpeas, lentils, cannellini beans, borlotti beans or kidney beans) and some frozen cut up vegetables. Sorted!
<! Time poor at meal times? Prepare vegetables in advance or use frozen or canned vegetables (no added salt)
<! No fresh fruit in the house? Have canned fruit in natural juice on standby for breakfasts or after dinner treats with yoghurt or custard
For more ideas check out the recipes on the Fruit & Veg Month 2019 Recipes webpage
