Swimming
Thanks to all staff, students and families for all their help in making our carnival a great day. Congratulations to the winning house, Patrick. Once again Mrs McCarthy organised a great day.
House Competition
Our House Competition has begun. Students can collect points through many challenges. I think this year’s competition will be a close one. Students who have their name on a Mercy value award can also be one of 5 students pulled out on Friday and win a voucher to spend at the canteen.
Staffing
Mrs McVey has been on long service leave in Term 1 and has now informed me that she will not be returning to Ss Peter and Paul’s . She has decided to retire and do relief teaching when it suits. We will organise an acknowledgement for Sue’s tremendous contribution to our school and teaching later in the term. I wish her all the best as she moves into the next stage of life.
Communication
We try our best to keep parents/carers informed about what is happening at school. Could I encourage parents to check out our app or the newsletter (link is on app or website) as the first place for information. We are happy to take your phone calls but with 170 families in the school the phone seems to ring constantly with queries that have been answered on the app or newsletter. This frees up the office staff to complete many of the other jobs they must attend too.
Facebook & School App
Our school Facebook page is called Ss Peter & Paul’s Primary School Goulburn.
We also have a school app which is available to download from both Apple & Android app stores: search for SZapp and follow the instructions. You can also set notifications so you will not miss any important information.
Our financial APP is called QKR. You can pay fees, order uniform, order from the canteen if you sent up an account on this app
Uniforms
Our expectation for Uniforms is:
K-2 –sports uniform Wednesday only
Years 3 to 4- sports uniform Tuesday & Thursdays
Years 5 to 6 –sports uniform Thurs & Friday (Year 6 jerseys permitted these days)
Normal uniform to be worn all other days.
Any changes to this schedule parents will be notified.
ANNUAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN
This year as we continue to be a Numeracy and Literacy Action Plan school, our goals continue to be improving pedagogy (our teaching skills) and an across the school approach to Literacy and Numeracy .With our commitment to improving Numeracy and Literacy we have two outside experts to help guide us on our journey-Matt Sexton and Kaye Lowe. Matt was here with us this week working with our K-2 teachers. Kay Lowe will be working on Literacy especially writing across the school in Week 6.
This year we are specifically concentrating as staff and with students and families on the 3 areas on the graphic. COLLOBROATION, DIALOGUE and CHALLENGE. In simple terms we want more student talk about learning in the classroom, we want to engage more with all parts of the school community and not just work as isolated units in the classrooms but as a whole team ,including parents to improve student outcomes. Finally we want our students to feel that their school work is challenging and that they will spend time doing things that will test their brains but they can with time and practice become more confident with their learning. A fuller explanation of the Annual improvement Plan is on our website under policies and publications.

Crunch&Sip® is a set time in our classrooms for students to ‘refuel’ on vegetables, salad and fruit and ‘rehydrate’ with water. Students who are not hungry and are well hydrated perform better in the classroom, show increased concentration, and are less likely to be irritable and disruptive.
