MATHS AT HOME
There are many resources online for students and families to explore Maths ideas and challenges. Try a few of these and encourage your child to explore by discovering some activities and concepts together.
Some great websites:
Starter of the Day: http://www.transum.org/Software/SW/Starter_of_the_day/
This is used in many classes as a warm up or group challenge each day. Starter of the Day provides a wide variety of ways to apply your numeracy knowledge and a daily surprise. Many of these can even be explored and enjoyed by our younger students with help from a friend or family member.
Splash ABC Maths Games: http://splash.abc.net.au/home#!/search/maths%20games
Over 600 interactive maths games that each focus on a specific maths skill or concept. You can search by Maths subject and year level. Requires flash player.
Maths Playground: https://www.mathplayground.com/
Over 400 interactive maths games that each focus on a specific maths skill or concept. You can search by Maths subject and year level.
IXL Maths: https://au.ixl.com/math/
(Select Australia) Concept quizzes organised for every concept in every year level.
Jenny Eather’s Maths Dictionary for Kids (Interactive): http://www.amathsdictionaryforkids.com/dictionary.html
Thousands of Maths concepts, each explained with interactive demonstrations that and animations. As Maths is a language, this is an incredible resource!
There are also countless apps that can be incredibly useful on iPads and other devices. Some of our favourites are: Maths Animations (step by step), Heli Math (fast facts), Math Fight (competitive fast facts), Math Dots, Oh No Fractions (2-6), Fractions (by Braining Camp), Chicken Coop Fraction Games, Shapes 3D, and many more.
- Please return the Local Excursion Consent form
- If your child didn't receive their RAT's last Thursday please collect them from the front office
PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR FAMILY NAME SIGN WHEN PICKING UP FROM CAR LINE
CAR LINE PARKING RULES
A reminder to all families of the parking rules at car line. Remember, when you are lined up on the road at pick up time you are only permitted to be stopped for 2 minutes. If the line is not moving, advice from NSW Police is that parents and carers should drive around the block until they are able to enter the school grounds.
Please also remember that student supervision at car line is until 3:45pm, so arriving around or after 3:30 will help to ease the congestion at this time. It is not essential that you are at car line before 3:20pm (school finish time).
Please also remember to leave neighbours driveways clear when waiting to pick your child up at the end of the day, especially if you are waiting behind the bus stop area.
EARLY PICK UP INFORMATION
If you or someone you know of wishes to enrol a child in Kindergarten for 2023 please do so online as soon as possible, as our places tend to fill fast and we have already received a number of enrolments.
Even if your child has siblings attending the school please also complete an online enrolment as soon as possible.
Please call the office if you have any questions about enrolments.

Due to stock shortages and delivery issues we expect some menu items to be occaisionally substituted or changed on Qkr at short notice.
Apologies for any inconvenience.
CANTEEN PROCEDURES FOR 2022
Last year we had an overwhelming number of forgotten lunches and unpaid IOUs. This is a huge strain on the canteen manually and financially. Below are a few procedures put in place to keep the canteen running smoothly and effectively.
- How to Order – place order on the Qkr app or write order on a paper bag with cash inside.
- QKR! Orders – are due by 9.30am on the day. Please remember that you can order the night or days before. Also check that you have selected the correct day.
- Cancelled QKR! Orders - if you have placed an order and your child is not at school that day, you can cancel your order by going into “activities” and click on the minus icon before 9.30am. If you need to cancel the order after 9.30am please text Di on 0417 688 472 ASAP. If the order has already been prepared or made you may not receive a credit.
- No Lunch – if your child realises that they don’t have lunch before 10.00am a phone call will be made to parents. If lunch cannot be brought up to school, then the canteen can make lunch and an IOU will be sent home. If they realise after 10.00am a phone call will be made but only a sandwich can be made from the canteen- no hot food.
- Unpaid IOUs – please remember to pay your IOUs ASAP, either on Qkr or cash. This keeps the prices low.
Canteen Helpers – at the moment we cannot have helpers. When restrictions ease Di will be looking for helpers on Thursdays and Fridays from 9.30am – 11.30am. Please contact Di on 0417 688 472 if you would like to know more information.
- Students must wear Summer Uniform in Terms 1 & 4 and Winter Uniform in Terms 2 & 3. All uniform items are now available to buy. New uniform purchases can be ordered on Qkr. The order will be filled on Tuesdays and sent home with your child.
- If you are wanting to purchase some 2nd hand uniforms please visit the uniform shop during the opening hours.
From the Student and Family Counsellor
If you have ever asked your child: “how was school today” the common response may be: “good”, “no response” or “hmph”. Sometimes they are not ready to talk yet or you might get a play by play run down of the entire day. Below are some questions that can help prompt thoughts for children to communicate more about their day and also encourage them to think about the way that they want to interact with others, be more aware of others and do their best.
50 Question ideas to encourage your Children Instead of ‘How was School?’
- What made you smile today?
- Can you tell me an example of kindness you saw/showed?
- Was there an example of unkindness? How did you respond?
- Does everyone have a friend at recess?
- What was the book about that your teacher read?
- What’s the word of the week?
- Did anyone do anything silly to make you laugh?
- Did anyone cry?
- What did you do that was creative?
- What is the most popular game at recess?
- What was the best thing that happened today?
- Did you help anyone today?
- Did you tell anyone “thank you?”
- Who did you sit with at lunch?
- What made you laugh?
- Did you learn something you didn’t understand?
- Who inspired you today?
- What was the peak and the pit?
- What was your least favourite part of the day?
- Was anyone in your class gone today?
- Did you ever feel unsafe?
- What is something you heard that surprised you?
- What is something you saw that made you think?
- Who did you play with today?
- Tell me something you know today that you didn’t know yesterday.
- What is something that challenged you?
- How did someone fill your bucket today? Whose bucket did you fill?
- Did you like your lunch?
- Rate your day on a scale from 1-10.
- Did anyone get in trouble today?
- How were you brave today?

- Tell us your top two things from the day (before you can be excused from the dinner table!).
- What are you looking forward to tomorrow?
- What are you reading?
- What was the hardest rule to follow today?
- Teach me something I don’t know.
- If you could change one thing about your day, what would it be?
- (For older kids): Do you feel prepared for your history test?” or, “Is there anything on your mind that you’d like to talk about?” (In my opinion, the key is not only the way a question is phrased, but responding in a supportive way.)
- Who did you share your snacks with at lunch?
- What made your teacher smile? What made her frown?
- What kind of person were you today?
- What made you feel happy?
- What made you feel proud?
- What made you feel loved?
- Did you learn any new words today?
- What do you hope to do before school is out for the year?
- If you could switch seats with anyone in class, who would it be? And why?
- What is your least favourite part of the school building? And favourite?
- If you switched places with your teacher tomorrow, what would you teach the class?
