Students MUST wear their school hat when playing outside at school.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT ALL CLOTHING ITEMS ARE CLEARLY LABELLED.
2021 YEARBOOK
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2021 YEARBOOK COVER DESIGN WINNERS
CHEVELL WARD AND OSCAR MARTIN!!
- Remember to purchase the 2021 Yearbook! The cost is $25 per book and can be paid via Qkr or cash at the office (no eftpos or credit card).
SCHOOL TRAVEL PASS APPLICATIONS
- Students who need a school travel pass for 2022 can apply now. A new application will need to be submitted if:
- they are applying for a school travel pass for the first time, or
- they are requesting an additional travel entitlement as a result of a new shared parental responsibility situation (e.g. joint custody)
- Students who change address, school, campus location, or who have repeated a year or received an expiry notification from Transport for NSW for their school travel entitlement, should renew or update their details before the end of term 4. This will ensure that schools can endorse applications and current entitlements are updated and remain valid.
PLEASE DON'T PARK ACROSS DRIVEWAYS
- Please remember to leave neighbours driveways clear when waiting to pick your child up at the end of the day, especially if you are waiting behind the bus stop area. Please see the below image which details some of the road and parking rules that can incur fines.
CAR LINE PARKING RULES
- A reminder all families of the parking rules at car line. Remember, when you are lined up on the road at pick up time you are only permitted to be stopped for 2 minutes. If the line is not moving, advice from NSW Police is that parents and carers should drive around the block until they are able to enter the school grounds.
- Please also remember that student supervision at car line is until 3:45pm, so arriving around or after 3:30 will help to ease the congestion at this time. It is not essential that you are at car line before 3:20pm (school finish time).
This will be the final newsletter for 2022.
Any further updates will be sent as a Compass message.
As the year concludes I'd like to share a little from my thoughts in the 2022 Yearbook:
The past two years has been very challenging for staff, students and families. The word “unprecedented” has been used correctly I believe to explain the times we live in. Our days have been filled with uncertainty, however watching us all adapt to a new way of learning has been exciting. I feel that parents, students and teachers have given their very best dealing with the concept of remote learning. Parents have been fantastic in juggling all the roles thrust upon them. Staff have felt your support and a new appreciation for the work teachers do. Students have worked well and had to deal with the disappointment of the cancelling of school events that are often the highlights of Primary school. We pray for better days ahead - filled with excursions, camps, swimming lessons, sport, Book Week Parades and so on. We pray that once again we can sing with pride our school song, attend mass and sing hymns that inspire us and praise God.”
Our student leaders have done a terrific job and my thanks to all the students striving to be welcoming, studying hard and to follow our motto - To Learn, To Lead, To Love.
My thanks to some of the less seen workers at our school - Di in the canteen, our cleaner Vicki and Steve our Groundsperson.
Thanks to Father Joshy and Father Alex for their support of our spiritual needs.
Thanks to Tracey for her smooth running of our Front Office and Caitlan who has supported her. My thanks to the School Executive Brad Brown and Greg Angus for many hours of extra work. Special shout out to Louise Seaman for her concern for students and families in her classroom support teacher role.
All the staff here do an extraordinary job and strive to be kind, caring and understanding in what are very demanding roles. I hope they enjoy their well-earned break.
To all the students, staff and families leaving the school I thank them for their contribution to our community and I wish them well for the future.
Thanks to all for your hard work and I wish everyone a lovely break.
May Christ bless you and may you have a Happy and Holy Christmas.
2022 School Leaders
I sincerely thank those students who put themselves forward to be selected as School Captain & Vice Captain in 2022. It is not easy to be scrutinised and speak in public about your character. All who did so were very brave.
Our School Captains are: Lexie Maple-Brown and Oscar Martin
Our Vice Captains are: Ruby Cunningham and Lucas Webster
Students have also nominated and spoken for the role of Sports House Captains which will be chosen by their sports house peers. Speeches and voting took place on Wednesday 1 December. The 2022 Sports House Captains will announced at the Monday afternoon assembly on 6 December.
School Community Council
The School Community Council met last week. At the meeting we looked at the council’s finances that remain steady even though there was a loss of some income with canteen being closed during lockdown and purchasing a new fridge.
The council were very grateful for Michelle Randall’s work in running the soccer club again this year.
The council also offers sincere thanks to uniform shop volunteers Deanne Dillon and Lynette Ford for their work this year, especially offering appointments outside hours to help out fit all our new enrolments. This is Lynette's last year as a volunteer as Samuel moves to high school next year. Thanks for your many years of service.
The council also thanks Mrs Kain, supported by Mrs Martin, for her wonderful work in helping the uniform shop operate especially during these restricted access times.
The council endorsed the 2022 School Budget and School fees. Council noted that with growing enrolments there will be some extra money next year that has been allocated to buying more computers and iPads, and other maintenance needs.
The council also spent time talking about the issues involved in the car line drop-off and pick up area and resolved to work on some solutions to the problems there.
The council wishes to thank staff for the time they put in to ringing parents individually about their child’s progress in 2022 and for all their work during a difficult school year.
Each year group will be visiting the Adventure Park on a designated day next week (week 10) to celebrate the end of the year.
Children are permitted to wear suitable casual clothes only on the day that their class is going to the park.
This excursion is covered by the local excursions permission note held at the office.
This year the Year 6 Graduation Ceremony will be part of the Graduation Mass, followed by lunch and a colour run.
All actvities will take place on Tuesday 7 December.
The Graduation Mass and Ceremony starts at 10am at Ss Peter and Pauls Cathedral. Students are able to invite 6 guests to attend.
Students then return to school for a pizza lunch and to enjoy their cake, followed by the Colour Run. Please note that this is at a cost of $20 per student and is payable via Qkr.
Feel free to contact the office if you have any questions.
Last Sunday we officially started the season of Advent. In classrooms, our prayer tables now have purple cloths and we focus on the first theme of Advent; Hope. During the weeks of Advent, it is important that we reflect on how we can prepare our hearts and homes for Christ's birth in the world as it is today. It is a time for faith communities and families to remember, through prayer, reflections and good deeds what the true meaning of Jesus' birth is.
Last week, Stage One students had their Stage Liturgy around the theme of generosity. As always, our students were impeccably behaved and remained reverent throughout. It was so pleasing to see that they were able to see how their donations to the St Vincent de Paul's Christmas Appeal is a way of enacting our current Mercy Value, Mercy in a practical way.
A huge thank you for all of your generous donations to the Christmas Appeal. If you would like to donate, we are accepting donations until Wednesday, December 8 (Week 10).
God Bless.
Year 4 and 5 students interested in trialling for the 2022 C & G Basketball and Tennis teams are asked to apply via the online link below. Trials will take place on Wednesday 2nd February (week 1), 2022. It will be too late to register in week 1. Information on how to nominate is on the website page.
Hi, I’m Noah Beardmore and on Thursday the 25th of November I represented the school at Archdiocesan Public Speaking, hosted by St Patrick’s Parish school in Cooma.
This virtual experience was an excellent opportunity to show and express my public speaking skills, I delivered my speech on how ‘Being Young Is Overrated’ which I believe it can be. All the homework, rules and directions just make a kid go crazy!
I do congratulate Jonah Whitefield of St Patrick’s Cooma and Lucinda Shields of Sacred Heart, Cootamundra, although everyone’s speeches were very well expressed.
I had a great experience at this event. I think that if anyone ever has an opportunity to try something new that they should take it, it just may take you somewhere you haven’t been before…

My School - Ss Peter and Pauls, by Hannah Pollard in 1/2HB
My School - Ss Peter and Paul’s
Ss Peter and Paul’s in Goulburn was founded by the Sisters of Mercy. It's the best school. It has awesome teachers and amazing places like the rose arch. The rose arch is an arch with beautiful white roses growing on its shady beauty like you are straight out of a fairy tale. I have learned so much at Ss Peter and Paul’s.
Also, we have amazing places! We have: the chapel, the basketball court, the holy garden, the hall, equipment and last but not least our big oval for sport. We love to stay active and do sport with Mrs McCarthy. My favorite sport is soccer. We also use our oval for fire drills when we need to be evacuated from classes. We need our oval for our sport classes too! We need to stay fit and healthy so we don't get sick. We love our helpful, old oval. We need the oval for a lot of things!
You walk into Peter and Paul's School (the best school ever) to do lots of good learning. In Kindergarten Mrs Wilcox taught me how to write long things and then in Year One she helped me with my spelling. In Year Two, Mr Brown helped me with almost everything, except for how to tell good jokes. I already knew that!
FUN FACTS!
Did you know...?
That Ss Peter and Paul’s has been around since 1980? Cool, right?!
Ss Peter and Paul has a library and lots of classrooms.
We have 11 classes.
I know we are so smart because we have amazing places to learn and a lot of opportunities to learn about life and everything that needs questions and life's big questions.

Kids Emotional and Mental Care
Helping Kids to identify and express their feelings
Sometimes children have big feelings and it is difficult to know how to respond as parents. Big feeling are often expressed as behaviour that can be best described as challenging! As a parent you have an important role to play in developing your child’s emotional skills and helping them to learn healthy ways to express their feelings.
Here are some great tips from the Kids Helpline that can help your child to learn about expressing their feelings:
- Tune into cues
- Behind every behaviour is a feeling
- Name the feeling
- Identify feelings in others
- Be a role model
- Encourage with praise
- Listen to your child’s feelings
For more information please visit Kids Helpline website for additional resources or contact Olivia, your school counsellor if you have concerns about your child’s ability to express their emotions or you need support to develop healthy coping strategies.

In 5/6A, we have been learning about Aboriginal history and culture, in particular, the use of boomerangs as hunting tools, and for sport and entertainment.
Initially, each student was given a rough sawn boomerang cut from plywood. Students then utilised their maths skills and applied concepts of symmetry and angles to reshape and bevel their boomerang. Students hand crafted and tested their boomerangs as they reshaped them with coarse-grit sandpaper. Most students noted a change in their boomerang’s aerodynamics and began to see a marked change in it’s ability to return.
During the next lessons, students will research Aboriginal art and will decorate their boomerangs with paint. Each boomerang will then be sealed and waterproofed as a finishing touch.
